What the Hellcat?

If I haven’t stated than before, I will now. SRT, Street Racing Technology, is one of my favorite performance car brands. The love started with the original SRT Charger and 300, which not only kept the full size, rear wheel drive American sedan around, but it strayed away from the high horsepower, front wheel drive offerings, which made American sedans softer. Fast forward some years and SRT has taken what I loved and added a supercharger to the marvelous HEMI power plant. Enter the Hellcat.

What is the Hellcat? A rather large animal that’s main diet consists of Mustangs and Camaros. Other than that, other superpowered vehicles have been consumed by the beastly Hellcats. The Charger SRT8 and Challenger SRT8 were given a supercharger and a slightly smaller engine which churns out an untamed 707HP. So if your in the new car market or just the average enthusiast, which Hellcat would suit you the best? The answer or at least food for thought, will be given below.

First up, the Challenger. If your looking for a two door muscle car and you want to break away from the typical Chevy v Ford battles, the Challenger is the pick for you. Add in 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8, and you have a ZL1, GT500/350R fighter. The Challenger Hellcat, gives you a elite muscle car experience, forcing 707HP to the rear wheels, via a six speed Tremac transmission or eight speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The interior is laced with classic American muscle touches and the exterior is classic as wheel with 20″ wheels. Cool Fact: Instead of four headlights like the regular Challengers, the driver’s side parking lamp is an air scoop to deliver maximum power and torque.

If you need a couple more doors and room for your kids in the back, the Hellcat Charger is the pick. The formula doesn’t change. You still get he 6.2 HEMI but the Charger is polar opposite from the Challenger and Chargers before. Not only do you get the typical performance car parts such as Brembo brakes and aggressive but functional design, you get the a massive 15 inch screen on the inside and rights to the cool fact. Cool Fact: The Charger Hellcat is not only the most powerful sedan ever but it’s the fastest. 11 second quarter mile and a 204mph top speed which rivals some supercars. Before I forget, you don’t have to completely break the bank. The Charger Hellcat, like the Challenger are priced under $100k.

Both the Charger and Challenger are given with two key fobs. One tames the beast for a more subtle experience, while the other breaks the leash and gives you the full 707HP.

So which is better. Both have 707HP. Both are aggressive but functional. Both have the power to snatch your face off of your skull. The answer is…depends on what you want. If you want to make the interstate your playground, go with the Challenger. If you want to make the interstate and soccer game your playground go with the Charger.

Personally, I’d go with the Charger. I got kids, I need the extra space and it’s the perfect combination of unreasonably power. While you won’t need the 204mph top speed, it’s like a gun. It’s not meant to be used, but nice if necessary.

At the end of the day, the Charger and Challenger Hellcat are the pinnacle of SRT engineering. 707 supercharged ponies, rear whee drive and various performance touches, make for an unbelievable experience. Either of the Hellcats can make German rivals fall to their knees. Whether you want two or four doors, the Hellcat Charger and Challenger are perfect additions to your fleet, regardless of loyalty.

  1. From what I can see in pictures, it looks very good. Yes, there is brands of many cars in it, but mostly, it is SLS dna. Would definitely like to see it in person before giving it a judgement.
