2018 Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster: The Short Throw

2018 Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster

For the next edition of The Short Throw I bring you Lamborghini’s flagship, the Aventador S Roadster. Here’s the story. As some may know, I was invited to Lamborghini Carolinas in Greensboro, to have a ride along in one of their demonstrator Lambos. While waiting for the demonstrator to be ready I shot a couple of the models on the showroom floor. First was the “elephant in the room” the new for 2018 Huracan Peformante, along with the classic Espada, my favorite blue Huracan, and an Aventador S Coupe.

Then as I walked outside, the first vehicle I saw was a brand new (and when I say brand new, I mean there was still plastic on the seats) Aventador S Roadster. Now, due to this being a brand new vehicle, this wasn’t my ride for the day. As a matter of fact, the furthest this Aventador moved, was from the ramp to their storage area, to the parking space adjacent from the ramp.

Nevertheless, the few feet this monster moved told me roughly 62.5% of what I needed to know about the Aventador.

2018 Aventador S Roadster Price

With that being said, the 2018 Aventador S Roadster can be all yours for north of $460k.

As with any flagship Supercar, the list of options are numerous, including anything from a lightweight carbon fiber roof panel, up to a styling package which can easily add $20k on to the price tag. Don’t forget about the $4k gas guzzler tax, and the optional back-up camera. Yes…the flagship Lambo, with ridiculous blind spots doesn’t come with a back-up camera as a STANDARD option. Expect the 2018 Aventador S Roadster to easily eclipse $500k.

2018 Aventador S Roadster Thoughts

The Aventador S Roadster is a pretty epic vehicle. Maybe I’m just star struck because it’s a dream car, but just hearing this beast start in person will instantly put a smile on your face. On the outside, the Aventador is the typical flagship Lambo…angular design, looks like it’s going fast sitting still. On the inside, the interior is as luxurious as a multi-million dollar home, but the designer had an obvious obsession with fighter jets. We first saw this with the Murcielago based Reventon, and the Aventador carries the look on. My point? The Aventador’s interior is basically the baby of a fighter jet and a Rolls Royce.

When the Aventador S Roadster was started, the V12 roared to life signaling that the beast had awoken. Like the Huracan that I got to ride in, the Aventador also had the options of Strada, Sport, and Corsa modes, which adjusted the exhaust note and made the docile bull more aggressive, which is what I found out later that day.

The Aventador S Roadster is a sweet ride, granted I had a little trouble exiting the car, because I have never had to open a Lambo door prior to that day, I enjoyed the experience. Maybe the next time I head up to Lamborghini Carolinas, I’ll be able to ride in an Aventador! Who knows?
