Most Anticipated Cars of 2017: #200

Post number 200. I thought to myself…”what would be the best subject for the 200th post on The Car Files?” I pondered on the subject for the past few weeks seeing as I was getting closer to the 200th post. Then, out of nowhere, i came up with the topic. Well, maybe the time of the year and shenanigans from the past few weekends helped aid in the topic selection. 

The topic for the 200th post on The Car Files is nothing other than…drums please…the most anticipated cars for this coming year.

2016 Brought a few concepts and revisions for many brands and models. This list features everything from the slightly controversial GT from Ford, to the “elephant in the room” Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, to the refocused Continental and Navigator. 

Of course, these are just my personal favorites. There are many more that are hitting the streets, so if you have some, mention them in the comments (with a reason) and I’ll do a post for the comments I get.

Ford GT- The last time we saw a Ford GT, it still ate Ferraris for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fast forward, roughly ten years and the new GT is looking to go Ferrari hunting once again. This time with a twin turbo 3.5L Ecoboost V6, cranking out 600 horses. Controversial? Yes. Still impressive? Hell Yes.

 Competitors: Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari 488GTB

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk- The SRT8 is what’s shown above. Now, take that same amazing vehicle and drop the 6.2L Hellcat HEMI V8 in it. In other words, 707 supercharged horsepower in what’s considered to be America’s Range Rover. It will be interesting to see comparisons to the Bentaya which hold the “world’s fastest SUV” crown.

Competitors: Land Rover Range Rover SVR, Bentley Bentayga

Honda Civic Type-R- We see them on roads everyday, with exception to the Type-R. Making it’s first appearance on American shores, the 2017 Civic Type-R isn’t the first of it’s kind. The Civic Type-R has been roaming streets overseas for the longest and now, finally, in the USA, the Type-R looks to become a street legend here.

Competitors: Ford Focus RS Cosworth, 

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1- This one is a long shot. The rumor concerns a spy shot of a Corvette with a big wing. The pic above is the Grand Sport, but seeing as 2018 is right around the corner and other rumors say that the Corvette might go to a Mid-Engine, Rear Wheel Drive layout, a ZR1 seems fitting for the time.

Competitors: Ford GT, Nissan GTR

Chevrolet Camaro Z/28- Another rumor from Chevrolet. We just expect that the CamaroSix will see the Z/28 treatment this year. The last Z/28 was a track monster and the new 6th gen, will follow suit and then some. Even though the  Z/28 is an older nameplate than the ZL1, just think of the Z/28 as a track version of the ZL1.

Competitors: Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Ford Shelby Mustang GT350

Bugatti Chiron- Speaks for itself. What more would I need to say? The Chiron’s stats are as follows: 1500HP, W16, an exhaust note that would make a tornado stop dead in its tracks, an earthquake cease, a flood say screw this and go back to where it came and lightning want to return to the clouds. So do I really need to explain more?

Competitors: Probably Koenigsegg

Acura NSX- A way to kill a Ferrari without paying for a small mortgage. The NSX is back and seems to be improved as well. While purists might prefer the classic NSX, new jacks might like the new model with all of its technology and stuff. Keep in mind, we are talking about Honda and they might drop a higher performance variant to fight the GTRs of the world.

Competitors: Nissan GTR

Lincoln Continental- Its about time. It’s about time the “Luxury” brand of Ford Motor Co, decided to actually focus on luxury. The Continental revives an old nameplate but makes it as modern as possible. Using a twin turbo 3.5L V6 it pushes out comprable numbers to the foreign cars which is rivals.

 Competitors: BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti

Lincoln Navigator- Who said big SUVs aren’t sexy? The Navigator was the original Luxury SUV and has fallen to the wayside with other competitors coming into the category. Although the question mark resides around the Ecoboost as the engine, atleast in my opinion, the new Navigator actually looks impressive. It also looks like it is a luxury vehicle and not just a Expedition in a Tuxedo …for the first time in a while.

Competitors: Chevy Tahoe/Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali

BMW Z5/Toyota Supra- One is the most legendary car the brand has ever produced; the other follows in line with its heritage. Enter the Z5 and the Supra, which are apparently vein count-developed by BMW and Toyota. We can bet that the Supra will be Toyota’s GTR fighter (alluding to the fact that the Supra and GTR had battles back in the day) and the Z5 will just be better than the Z4.
